Revolutionary GNSS + SLAM Hybrid Receiver for Complex Environments

The South DotLas Plus combines satellite positioning with simultaneous localization and mapping technology, enabling precise measurements in GNSS-denied environments where traditional RTK systems fail. Designed for surveyors, engineers, and construction professionals who demand accuracy regardless of location constraints.

Breakthrough Hybrid Technology

Traditional GNSS receivers become unreliable in urban canyons, under bridges, or inside structures. The DotLas Plus overcomes these limitations through intelligent fusion of satellite signals with laser-based SLAM technology. When satellites are blocked, the integrated laser scanner and dual cameras maintain positioning accuracy through visual-inertial odometry and 3D point cloud mapping.

Advanced Measurement Capabilities

Beyond positioning, the DotLas Plus transforms how measurements are captured and visualized. AR stakeout overlays design points directly onto live camera feeds, while AirMeas enables contactless distance measurements to inaccessible targets. The integrated laser scanner captures detailed 3D point clouds for comprehensive site documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

General
How does the hybrid GNSS + SLAM technology work in challenging environments?
The DotLas Plus seamlessly integrates GNSS positioning with SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) technology. When GNSS signals are compromised or unavailable—such as under dense canopy, in urban canyons, or indoor environments—the SLAM system uses laser scanning and inertial sensors to maintain precise positioning accuracy through environmental mapping and feature recognition.
What is AR stakeout and how does it improve field efficiency?
Augmented Reality stakeout overlays digital design data directly onto the real-world view through the device display, providing intuitive visual guidance to target points. This eliminates the need to interpret numeric displays and reduces stakeout time by up to 50%. Operators can see exactly where to place stakes or markers with millimeter precision, even in complex jobsite conditions.
What laser scanning capabilities are integrated into this receiver?
The integrated laser scanner captures high-density point clouds while maintaining survey-grade positioning accuracy. It supports real-time 3D mapping, volumetric calculations, and as-built documentation. The scanner works in conjunction with the SLAM system to create detailed environmental maps that enhance positioning reliability and provide comprehensive site documentation in a single workflow.
How accurate is positioning in GNSS-denied environments?
The DotLas Plus maintains centimeter-level accuracy even when GNSS signals are completely blocked or severely degraded. The SLAM system uses visual-inertial odometry and lidar measurements to track position relative to mapped features, ensuring continuous precision throughout the survey. Accuracy is maintained through advanced sensor fusion algorithms that combine all available positioning sources.
What data formats and software compatibility does the system support?
The receiver supports industry-standard formats including RINEX, LAS/LAZ point clouds, and common CAD formats. It integrates seamlessly with major surveying software packages and South's proprietary field software suite.   • remote-area or address-correction surcharges;

  • storage, demurrage or redelivery charges;

  • special permits or inspections;

  • return transportation; or

  • cargo insurance exceeding the carrier’s standard liability.

If an additional shipping charge becomes necessary before dispatch, we will request the Buyer’s approval. The order will not be dispatched with an unapproved material additional charge.

5. Customs, duties and importer responsibilities

Unless an order is expressly confirmed as DDP – Delivered Duty Paid, the recipient is responsible for customs clearance, import duties, VAT, taxes, brokerage charges and other destination-country costs.

The recipient may be treated as the importer of record and is responsible for providing accurate identification, tax numbers, permits and other information requested by customs authorities or the carrier.

Customs clearance time is outside Metricop’s direct control and is not included in any estimated delivery period unless expressly stated.

Metricop will not declare an incorrect value, description or country of origin or identify commercial goods as gifts.

6. Shipping addresses and delivery attempts

The Buyer is responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address, contact person, telephone number and any required customs information.

A request to change the address after order acceptance may result in delay, additional charges or cancellation if the shipment can no longer be redirected safely.

Delivery may require a signature. Delivery to the address, reception desk, mailroom, site office or person reasonably appearing authorised to receive the shipment will normally constitute delivery.

7. Risk of loss

For Consumers, risk of loss remains with Metricop until the Consumer or a person designated by the Consumer takes physical possession of the goods, where required by applicable law.

For Business Customers, the Incoterm stated in the quotation or invoice controls. If no different Incoterm is stated and Metricop arranges and prepays transportation, the order is shipped CPT Buyer’s delivery address, Incoterms® 2020.
